Vertigo teams with the BBC.

James Richardson, of Vertigo Films, is making Street Dance, the first British 3-D film, with UKFC and BBC Films after a career spent making films mostly outside the triumvirate. He said that early UKFC support had made the film possible. The BBC and Langan had then been “really, really crucial” in the script-editing stage, an important sounding board on casting and essential to selling the product. “When you go to the market you are not just a 3-D film and a Vertigo film. You are a BBC Film, and that carries a certain weight.”

Vertigo, the creators of 'Street Dance' are hoping that the worldwide reputation of the BBC will help to give the film a much larger amount of publicity. This is the U.K film industry's first attempt at a 3-D picture, so Vertigo can assume that consumer demand will already be at a high level domestically. The possibility of the film gaining acclaim overseas will almost certainly receive a boost from Vertigo combining with the BBC, who already have a foothold in the U.S film and television industries.

The Firm released on DVD.

The image is a screenshot from the official website of Nick Love's 'The Firm.'
(www.thefirm84.com )The image is promoting the DVD release of the film, giving the option to buy from www.play.com This screen is not the homepage, but acts as an advertisement before actually entering the site, evident from the "enter site" button. The screen also gives the option of signing up to a Vertigo Films newsletter, this button is in red at the very top of the advertisement. The red button contrasts the blue and white of the actual advertisement, attracting the viewer to the button. By signing up to the Vertigo Films newsletter, Vertigo gain a free method of promotion for future films, among people who are fans of previous releases; this, in a sense, promotes brand loyalty, and strengthens what would already be considered the target audience for many of Vertigo Films' productions. The fact that Vertigo have chosen to promote play.com on the film's website suggests a synergy between the two companies at the marketing and distribution stage of the film's release.

The Football Factory

The clip has been edited by the the uploader.
It features various segments of 'The Football Factory'
edited together, with some effects placed on the segments
such as negative. The uploader has also added their own
music to the sequence. This shows how the commercial
success of The Football Factory has lead to "exchange"
on websites such as Youtube. This would be a positive for
Vertigo Films because people making their own videos
using clips from The Football Factory shows that the film
has large appeal and that it has successfully reached its
target audience.

The Firm - Audience review

11:42 / Posted by Michael / comments (0)

My film of the year !

Went to see it in the cinema last night and thought it was absolutely superb - the best football violence film I've seen by a country mile.

It was funny, brutal, had a killer soundtrack (as every great film should have) and I loved the old school tracksuits and trainers from the early 80's ! When I left the cinema I wanted to go out and buy a Sergio Tacchini tracksuit !

Superbly acted and shot - the moving camera made you really feel part of it. A few of the scences made me really wince !

Don't believe the reports that it's not as good as the original - it's miles better IMO. Ticked all boxes for me - 10/10
